You arent the only one. Google is a phenomenal search engine when it comes to images, Usenet, and their algorithmic web search. They also are testing out news searches, an "answers" section, and other niches. Dont get me wrong... they are an awesome company overall. What I have been saying is strictly that their pay-per-click offering is far inferior to that of Overture's. Overture is a pure PPC engine, Google is not, and it shows. Conversions on traffic I get from Google are much worse than those coming from Overture traffic, by a factor of three. They will never be able to steal Overture's throne as things stand now because advertisers will not be willing to bid as high. Sure - Google can keep throwing out sweet deals where they give away huge payments it order to steal some of Overture's smaller partners, but as time passes those partners will come back when they realize that they are actually netting less than they did with Overture (or Google ceases the sweet deals because they lose too much money on them).

On another note... Overture sent out a survey today that indicated that they considering rolling out both an email-lead program as well as a geographically-based paid search program, in addition to all of their current offerings. I haven't seen any press releases about this, but it is certainly more good news for the long haul. Just be patient. Overture is right on course.

PS> Even in the incredibly bearish market of recent years, Overture has managed to eek out a gain since their inception...notice their performance versus the NASDAQ...

And over the past two years, have outperformed the market more markedly...

Things are just starting. They are far from mature.
