I am glad I asked and thank you for your reply. I think that we agree on almost every point except that I am more aggressive with my predictions about the emerging web services architecture. Your term 'n-tiered' architecture is a more precise term than is my 'web-enabled client/server'. I use my term to reinforce the point that the n-tiered architecture is a continuous innovation while I assert that the web services architecture is discontinuous. I agree that Siebel is impressively ahead of the pack with their n-tier software. Paul
