If this is indeed what is going on with gold, what a nightmare. Of course we've all been talking about such a thing for so long. I wonder if the FED can pull of a rescue here. From the looks of the market, it doesn't seem so.

Paul,

I have known about the JPM derivatives situation. Things could get wild to the upside in PMs in a hurry, BWDIK.

Thanks for the heads up,

i think the fed will come to the rescue for the big banks and the banking system Immediately (if it's not going on already). while the fed "cares" about the economy, the fed's real job is really to CARE about the banking system. without a sound us banking system, the system just won't work and everything will fall apart. so everyone should get ready for fed action that will comfort the banking system. if the fed action (i don't pretend to know what that fed action will be at this moment) does not get the banking system comforted, then one can pile into all the gold you want later. i am wagering in favor of the fed at this time. does anyone think the fed is going to standby and let congress trample all over their banking system at this time? i have to bet on the fed's power, at least short term, at this time.

anyone wonder why the dollar was on fire today? think fed and phone calls around the world for coordination. just like on espn, "these guys are good."
