Bought some FAX today at $4.25. Its a closed end "Asia / Pacific" income fund that is trading at a discount to its net asset value, and it has a pretty good yield. Its a way for me to diversify my 401K's individual security portfolio away from tech stocks.

Tim, I think its a good move especially if they include stocks from the Nikkei. I think the Nikkei has finally bottomed.

Tim, In looking at FAX I came up with:

"The Fund estimates that distributions for the fiscal year commencing November 1, 2001, including the distribution paid on July 12, 2002, are comprised of 21% net investment income and 79% return of paid-in capital. This estimated distribution composition may vary from month to month because it may be materially impacted by future realized gains and losses on securities and fluctuations in the value of the currencies in which Fund assets are denominated."

So the indicated $0.42/share distribution breaks out to $0.0882 interest and $0.3318 return of capital. That's not very good, IMO, as the interest only amounts to a little over 2%.
