Re: "This means that the Administration has used monetary as well as fiscal stimulus to protect the economy."

>>> Backloading the tax cuts so that the bulk of them occur AFTER the next Presidential election was not stimulative... as nearly every economist said, including Greenspan.

>>> It's was a political maneuver designed to keep the short term deficit numbers from drawing heat.

>>> A real, honest tax reform junking the current loophole-ridden mess of subsidies and crony capitalism is the only fair thing to do... and would be the best for the economy.

Dave thank you a fine post. Unfortunately, I disagree with all of it. The President has never proposed Investment Tax Credits and his tax cut is going into the savings accounts of the very rich who are getting all the money.

Consumer spending did hold up but is rolling over and will tank as will consumer confidence with the first set of real bad news due next week.

The Bush administration has been fiscally irresponsible has done nothing to promote job growth and does not know the address of Wall Street. The street sees these policies and pukes and the markets continue to flow red.

As far as Iran the Bush Administration this week told the Iranian Government to eat sheet and die.
