I continue to be amazed by the theory that encouraging the working class to not work by enabling shiftlessness and laziness is actually a good model for government. If indeed it is true that more social benefit programs is good for the country and its economy, then at what point can you no longer derive tax revenue? I'll answer that one, when there is no longer an environment that encourages entrepreneurship due to oppressive taxation. So, when there is no more business (or at least deep reductions in the numbers thereof) who is going to pay the salaries that taxes are collected from?
This is no Catch 22! The answer is all too obvious.
