Syria, Iran, Iraq et al supplying Hamas at the front lines?

If Hamas starts firing large numbers of rockets at Israel, the Israelis will go after Hamas, on the ground and in the air. They'd probably be glad to have an excuse to do it. If this happens, neither Iraq nor Iran would be able to provide any significant assistance. Would Syria send in forces to support Hamas? Personally, I doubt it. Syria can't fight Israel alone; there are no significant allies at hand, and I don't think they want to have their armed forces trashed in a fight they know they can't win.

justrantingexcuseme.

"They are rioting in Palestine
They are starving in Iran
There are Hurricanes off Syria
And Israel needs Rain

But we can be thankful and tranquil and proud
For Iraq's been endowed with a mushroom shaped cloud
And we know for certain that some sunny day
Saddam will set the spark off, and we will all be blown away!

You mean Hizbullah, I presume? Both Iran and Syria have been supplying Hizbullah, big-time. Iran can do so from safety -- we don't want to alienate the people, who are sick of the ayatollahs, and it's a BIG country besides. But Syria is going to find itself in real hot water. Looks like Boy Assad is simply not bright enough to be cautious.

Your Vietnam scenario seems highly unlikely to me. It won't be American troops taking down Hizbullah and Assad, it will be Israeli ones.
