We're guarding him because we installed him and he doesn't have guards. Which suggests that when we leave, he's toast. There is no such thing as "Afghans", just various factions serving various warlords. Which suggests that when we leave, a lot of people are toast. Interesting situation. If we pull out without leaving some semblance of a government behind, we take the blame for whatever happens in the vacuum. But do we have the capacity to create any semblance of stable government. How many such responsibilities are we planning to take on?
