<<...You still in DELL? If so, did you go to shareholders meeting?...>>

Dorine: I've been out of DELL for a long time now....In the last year I did some position trading BUT have been 100% in cash for several months now...Capital Preservation is the name of the game right now -- there is too much uncertainty out there and unfortunately I don't have a lot of faith in the current leaders of our country. I will dive back into the market but it may be late in '02 or in '03 and in a careful and targeted way. We all learned a lot in the boom period and its time to be wise and put that knowledge to use.

Hope things are going well for you.

regards,

-Scott

btw, I wish we had someone like Michael Dell as President -- he is a very bright leader who learns quickly AND gets the job done (even in tough times).

Pitts demand for $30k more, plus bigger staff reminds me...

of my Staples Forecasting group in 1998
we had a really nice young analyst woman in our group
she was truly lovely, beautiful woman, nice, funny
and very helpful with learning the ropes for me there
but she had an attitude problem
she was the least paid, weakest degree and training

but she could kill a table conversation with five guys just by walking nonchalantly past them
I would sometimes pretend to be lost in her eyes as she spoke to me, losing focus, losing concentration

she knew all others in the group were paid more
she knew I was paid much more
I made a mistake of telling her and another guy that I negotiated a third vacation week per year
well, she was on strike with performance and effort
with news of my 3 weeks versus her 2 weeks, given she had been there for two years, and I was a new arrival, that sent her over the edge

she bitched and moaned with our manager
he gave her a promotion!
even though her performance was dismal
he thought she would find motivation with higher payscale
he gave her and another guy a third discretionary vacation week
they were happy, and I was happy for them

it worked, she was great for the next two years
same might happen with Pitt
he is blackmailing the system
he keeps one seat unfilled, lacks quorom to prosecute in certain cases
e.g. Xerox case dropped

but it might work
the SEC staff is pitifully compensated
they might well receive payoffs from the prosecuted stock firms

welcome to the Jackass Porch
that woman at Staples had a baby and left the company
it was our very serious and sincere loss
the working world never looked the same until QCOM came along and stole my heart
