QUANTUM Appoints Niedzwiecki As Pres And CEO

IRVINE, Calif. -- Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide Inc. (QTWW) named Alan Niedzwiecki president and chief executive.

In a press release Friday, Quantum, which was spun off from engine-parts maker Impco Technologies Inc. (IMC) July 24, said Niedzwiecki had been its chief operating officer since November 2001.

Spokesmen for Quantum couldn't be reached for additional details.

Shares of Quantum, which General Motors Corp. (GM) owns a stake of nearly 20% in, recently traded at $3, up 12 cents, or 4.1%, on Nasdaq volume of 3,700 shares. Average daily volume is 1465,930 shares. Shares closed at $4.05 July 24.

Quantum designs and makes fuel systems for fuel cells and internal combustion engines.
