My sources tell me no truth to that rumor. And did CNBC just misreport on the VIX, saying it was higher at 56 than at any time (even higher than 1987)? Patently untrue, since the VIX spiked up to 170 or so in the 1987 tuna melt.

AND, who knows what the VIX was (should have been) on 9/11-14 if the markets had opened and people could have bought puts on their positions?

That's the rumor I heard last night - I think the market says it's bogus or a non event.

CNBC doing its part to shake the trees.
