Ted, thanks for the editorial. I personally remember this incident that was cited by Horowitz:

When I spoke at Cornell one of the three faculty conservatives, a botany professor, was under siege by both the administration and the student left – barred from his own classes and waiting to see if he would be fired – for expressing a politically incorrect opinion on the issue of homosexuality.

The professor was Jim Aist, and he had the "audacity" to post flyers around campus suggesting that homosexuality is a condition that can be treated. He became the target of liberal organizations like DASH, a.k.a. Direct Action to Stop Homophobia. (With a name like that, you can guess how open-minded they are.) They staged demonstrations and sit-ins at his office. No doubt they also tried to get him kicked off the faculty.

By the way, I was a participant in a counter-rally to show support for Prof. Aist.
