Unfortunately, each of the past three Presidents, and of course Nixon a few Presidents before that, have acted at times as though they were above the law.

Perjury is perjury. And perjury by a man, a lawyer too, sworn to uphold and defend the laws is despicable.

Despicable behaviour is more the rule than the exception among politicians. You still have made no convincing case to suggest that this particular incidence of despicable behaviour had some terrible impact on the republic that sets it apart form all of the other despicable behaviour we see.
