Re: I am reading that Andy Grove of Intel and S. McNealy of SUNW are having trouble signing off on their audits.
Don't believe everything you hear on the rumor mill <grin>

For starters, Andy Grove does not have to certify the financial statement. The CEO, Craig Barrett, and the CFO, Andy Bryant, are the ones that have to sign a statement certifying that the numbers are correct.

McNealy will have to sign as CEO of Sun. But if the report is so far off on Grove they lose all their credibility.

On the AMD side, Jerry Sanders does not have to certify either. Just Hector Ruiz and the CFO, Robert Rivet.

Windsock, first off, Grove may have been talking for Barrett....he does from time to time. And I doubt that Cramer would make such a statement without checking the facts. Remember he was kicked off NBC for a while for misleading the public on a stock and is very sensitive to the issue of misrepresentation. In addition, I did hear the same thing from another source........I just can't remember where.

But frankly, I really can't believe Grove/Barrett and McNealy don't intend to sign.......they wouldn't be that stupid in this climate. I think they are using these statements [assuming they are true] to get some easing of the requirements. Again, in this climate, I think that's a mistake and it won't fly but that's my personal opinion, nothing more.
