Can your charts focus in on the period from June to October 1987 to refresh the ancient recollection of this trader that we had many similar "hammers" in the weeks and months prior to the '87 crash?

G,

What is the name for the type of candlestick pattern that is visible at stockcharts.com in the action on October 15 (long white box with small shadows or tails [?] top and bottom)?

TIA,
Sam

RE: Sox Hammer

According to candleeyes.co.uk , "The longer the lower shadow, and the smaller the the read body, the more potent the [hammer]."

Is this your experience, and if so, how do you correlate the length of this shadow and read body to the expected bullish move in the Sox?
