<< is xp for the consumer and win2000 server for business. man, this is confusing!!!! >>

How is that confusing. XP is good for some businesses. One shoe doesn't fit all. MSFT offers a nice assortment of OS to meet consumer and business needs.

IMO,
Dave

Windows XP (both Home and Professional) is a desktop client, not a server, OS. Windows 2000 Server, on the other hand, is a server OS. What's a convenient way to remember the distinction? Here's a handy tip that works for most people: Remember to look for the word "server" in the OS's name. If the name of the OS has the word "server" in it, then, odds are, that OS is a server, and not a desktop client, OS.
