Its important that they restore faith without screwing the market with too many new laws. The cases they site were unforgivable and need to be punished. That said we should have ZERO faith in this group of morons creating laws after the fact. They need to realize that congress is inherently stupid when trying to address issues after the fact. If They take what really needs to be a symbolic effort and clear message of "don't cook the books or you will pay" and turn it into a new book of laws we'll be totally screwed. As far as I know its always been against the law to cook books and steal. I know they all want to look good for the elections coming up but had they been smart enough to fix the market problems they would have done so before they happened. They didn't and they aren't - smart enough that is. Always beware of new laws passed for political gain - rarely are they the right thing to do long term.
