oversold bounce or miners turning back up?? -- shares usually lead the metal, FWIW -- just as they got creamed before gold did a few days back. In fact they signalled this several days ago by failing to advance when gold did

Dunno, but for the first time in a while, gold shares led the metal UP today.

Good question...my take is that the dirts were sold to give MuFu and pension fund managers some offsetting gains (for their numerous losses). They had to sell something, because redemptions were rolling in. I think redemptions have stopped, temporarily, so the managers who believe in the gold story piled back in and bought the dirts while they're cheap....

Either that or short covering.<VBG>
