Demand and equity pricing was not the point i was discussing at all...I was merely saying that since Japanese recession is taking eons to end, it doesn't necessarily follow that US would or will have similar and long drawn out pains...a lot of their pains have to do with the way their companies operate....

Japanese companies are traditionally run by families...they do not usually sell out....consolidation is much much slower and painful than it would be here.....its true of all Asian conglomerates...

Their corporate laws, employment policies, retrenchment policies are biased towards the owners, being influenced by their culture to a large extent....the reforms are not implemented till it is almost too late for recovery, and thats coz the reforms clash with their values and way of life....

IMO any comparison of turnaround times between here and there is not really meaningful....
