The EU's purpose is to break down trade barriers. Later a common currency (which Britain opted out of) and some measure of foreign policy cooperation where added but they can arguable contribute to the main objective. A common currency makes trade easier and agreement on foreign policy can help minimize disruptions to trade. But I don't see how marriages of transvestites are related to the objective, or to any agreement actually signed and ratified by the UK.

I think US treaties would be different because we our more careful about our sovereignty. My point is if we cease to be so careful then there is a danger of losing sovereignty.


Tim, you don't understand........treaties between countries is not what's going on between EU member nations. Ultimately, the hope is to have the US of Europe.....one nation with individual states like here.

So your analogy is bogus. When we sign treaties, our sovereignty is not in danger except where we were to allow it. And why would we do that?
