You're saying that millions of units of high end server sales from AMD were deferred?

You're confused.

AMD wasn't able to completely overcome the empty-hertz campaign of Intel, which hurt their desktop sales. The fact the industry overall is at the depths of a sales crash didn't help either.

But that doesn't have much to do with interest in Hammer delaying or eliminating Itanium and 4-way/8-way Xeon sales due to the "Osborne effect."

And since AMD isn't playing in either market, yet, AMD has no sales in that segment to lose.
