I recently upgraded my PC because every time I made a change it became more and more complicated to get everything to work together. You reach a point where you are afraid that nothing is going to work right.

Exactly right! I just came back from a short trip to my parents home. My Dad has a Dell PC that he purchased in '99 for $3200 (!!). It works just fine, but he said "I need a new PC because when I try to defragment the drive, it takes soo long." He isn't technical, the only reason he defrags is because Dell came configured in such a way that the defrag automatically pops up a box offering to defrag, and of course, my Dad will drop everything and say "yes, yes, please!".

I cleaned out his drive from all the junk that he had, and reduced the time it takes for defrag, and, after a whole day's worth of cleaning crap up, he looked at it and declared "Nah, I think I just need a new PC".

I think the whole PC revolution worked because it caters to some mysterious gene in our body...
