I agree, except I don't think this time is different, just as I didn't believe that the tech bubble was different. I failed to capitalize on what my rational mind was telling me, but hell, it's all in the history books for anyone to read. This bubble/bust stuff has been repeating itself for millenia. Yet the world economy has continued to expand over the long term. You just have to ride it out, get well diversified, and buy at unreasonably low valuations like we're seeing today.

Larry,

The assumption that you make is that the "leader" of the previous bull market will be the leader in the next bull market. History has often told us that the sectors that benefited in previous bull markets often did not benefit in the next bull market.

Why be a hero? Hold onto cash and wait for opportunities to present themselves.
