However, we will have to make compromises since many of the member states will not be as advanced. If the world government can't either be A - Dominated by the US or B - An agreement between democracies with at least a generation long tradition of respect for human rights, then I'm not interested. If the other countries are not advanced enough then the world government can wait another couple of hundred years, at least as long as we don't encounter hostile extraterestrial aliens during that time frame. Most likely, you won't be around to have a say in all of it. However, there will be disparities between members whenever its done......just like there were disparities between countries joining the EU. The weaker countries will play catch up but you can't make up a hundred years in a short period of time. Don't worry, they will work it all out. As for aliens presenting a threat, that is looking less and less likely given the spacing between solar systems. That was in 1995-96. No, the first poll in the series was 1990 , the last was 2000-2001. During that period people have become less comfortable with the EU (because it has gotten bigger and more expensive). I suppose its possible that people have become more comfortable with the EU since 2001 but I don't see any evidence to support that idea. I will have to go back.......I thought the last poll in that series was 1995. The sense I get from Europeans who I talk to now is that there is still some grousing but for the most part, people are coming to accept it. I will look for a more current poll. ted
