NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Citigroup Inc. (C) said the Securities and Exchange
Commission has been looking into Enron Corp.'s (ENRNQ) dealings with Wall
Street for several months now, and it will continue to cooperate with the
inquiry.

Shares of Citigroup, along with J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., both being
investigated by the Senate for allegedly helping Enron disguise debt, plunged
on media reports of a new SEC inquiry.

"We don't believe there is anything new here," a Citigroup spokesman said.

A J.P. Morgan spokesman declined to comment.
