The whole market was down. SUNW wasn't the worst by a long shot. Commentators are attributing it to fear for the chip sector. That seems a little silly to me, given that only a few days ago the book-to-bill looked pretty good. BWDIK?

SUNW hit Schwab's "magic number" of $3.50 briefly today. At that point their margin agreements (at least the one I have with them -- I'd be surprised if they don't have preferential treatment for their better customers) makes it unmarginable. I wonder whether that had anything to do with the sharp change in its price direction when it hit?

Edit: That sort of implies that there won't be many SUNW inspired margin calls coming out of Schwab if it drops much more (if there are even now -- I don't know).

JMHO.

Dear Ken: That MAY be the reason but if so its a DAMN FOOL REASON IMHO. The general consensus of opinion is that in difficult times its best to go for market share and a minor degrading of margin as that author suggests seems unimportant to me for reasons you experts OUGHT to know. I THINK you all do know why its important to maintain and increase MARKET SHARE in the SERVER market, if you dont, I could advise you for a FEE. (gg) Hey, you charge a fee now for advice--RIGHT? JDN
