Raising Margin requirements.. "That's the ticket Greenspan should have punched, why the heck didn't he."

Of course in public testimony to Congress, Greenspan said he didn't believe changes in Margin would be effective. This could have been a shift in opinion from his previous private comments, or it could have been a "public face" response. Kind of like his public response about no real estate bubble.

Five years from now, his private comments he makes today at FOMC meetings will be made public.
