I would never hold the little investor responsible for not knowing about the accounting scandals but I do hold them responsible for buying outragously priced stocks with P/E's of 100's. The only excuse that I believe from people is this: I was too lazy to learn what I was doing with my own hard earned money. Now that may sound cold but its the truth, in this last 10 years all a person had to do was a "little" research but the whole country acted like greedy little hoags. I do have a heart and I feel very sorry for the elderly who can be "had" but the rest are getting the EDUCATION they should have went out and gotten years ago on their own Whiteboy
