In fairness, I suspect that this transition has as much to do with learning the ways of the world as it does with the personal self-interest that comes with affluence.
Which does not say a lot for those who are 40, 50, and 60 and are still liberal.

And it says much for those who are 20 and already conservative.

When I was 16, my father was an idiot. It's amazing how much he learned in the next 10 years.
