Here's one long time SI member's take on Breen, from an October post on the MOT board; my optimist's take on getting Breen is that he got a preview of the Boies report, which didn't point to wrongdoing beyond the petty (if 7 figures can be petty) greed of Koz and his general counsel; and he also had to be sold on the underlying financials. Certainly his domain experience at Gen. Inst. and MOT will be very good for dealing w/ TYC Electronics and Cable:

I believe the installment of Ed Breen in the top spot will dismantle any beauracracy left in the company. He is a winner, and this company needs to have a winner they can believe in. So, yes, I believe MOT is turning it around.

What I'm excited about is the potential defense contracts they should win.

I own MOT via their acquisition of a profitable little company BWSI. I added to my MOT position the day Breen got elected in.
