Worked in the depression, and it has worked for 4000 years. I had a college geology professor who spent the Depression as an itinerant gold miner. Spent some time around Quesnel BC, if I recall. And rode a banana boat to Central America with a bunch of guys, and then followed a river thru the jungle way up into the mountains. Started finding gold, but then they got very sick and barely made it out alive. Many years later I went on a geology field trip with him to BC and YT, my first trip to the far north.
