I agree, and it'll be political cyanide by 2004, when everyone will either be going through bankruptcy themselves, from all the 0% consumer loans being force-fed to 'em, or else they'll know 10 people who are. Not a pretty picture...hope we don't start seeing a resurgence in socialism here a la the '30's but I fear it may happen in the backlash.

when Larry Summers writes his incorrect revisionist history of what caused the misery of the 'oughts (the daughter book to Friedman's 'A Monetary History of the US') he will place this bill very high at the top of the blame list. (he will of course neglect to place any of the blame at his own feet or those of his bosses, Rubin and Al.com)
