It would be amusing to pull up some of the posts here that predicted a trillion dollar market cap for MSFT.

i realized when looking at 2001 earnings that i had completely missed one of MSFT's tricks, this is a good one....

remember when the SEC announced that MSFT had been a bad boy, and should not use Cookie jar accounting any more?

and remember MSFT's response?, it was "we didn't have to restate earnings" and will comply in the future...

well MSFT did restate some financials, they did it i think about about 9 months ago, during the SEC investigation... they had to do an accounting change, where they misstated some "unearned" revenues, they changed a quarter's unearned revenue number.... showing that a bunch more of that quarters earnings came from "unearned" than people were led to believe......

they did this because the SEC was going to tell them to restate it, so they did it early, so that later they could say, hey, we don't have to restate......

what a laugh these guys are.... (well depending if they are your employees or not) if they are, then it isn't too funny.....

jon.

Naveen Jain, ceo of Infospace, used to predict, without blushing, that his company would be the first to reach that milestone.
i kid you not.
INSP is about to be delisted from Nasdaq now instead.

Are you saying that Microsoft cannot reach a trillion dollar market cap?

You could be right. After all your postings on SI, the odds would seem to favor that at least one of your market predictions would not, at the very least, be disastrously wrong.

Maybe this is the one?
