Hi Nadine Carroll; Re Iran's supposed threat to nuke Israel. The quote you dug up is: "If one day, he said, the world of Islam comes to possess the weapons currently in Israel's possession [meaning nuclear weapons] - on that day this method of global arrogance would come to a dead end. This, he said, is because the use of a nuclear bomb in Israel will leave nothing on the ground, whereas it will only damage the world of Islam." #reply-17801729

This was to support the quote from Lindy Bill: "Iran is on record as stating that they will use an Atomic Bomb against Israel as soon as they have one." #reply-17801364

Your quote does not support the statement Lindy Bill made. It is not an official statement from the Iranian government. Instead, all it is is a quote from some sort of former politician at a speech to university students. And it doesn't say that Iran will "use an Atomic Bomb against Israel", what it says is that they will counter Israeli threats to use nuclear weapons with their own.

In other words, the quote is quite insignificant (unless you happen to be an Israeli). Of course every nation that possesses nuclear weapons owns them in order to counteract the other nations that own them. This is standard policy for every nation that has nuclear weapons, every single one, there are zero exceptions. Iran's statement is simply that in a nuclear exchange, Israel would catch the worst of it. This is a military fact that should be obvious to all (and is one of the reasons that Israel won't exist a decade from now). Will Iran nuke Israel? I doubt it, but they sure as hell won't have to put up with Israel attacking them after the Iranians are armed with nukes because at that point in time, Israel will not be able to afford a war with Iran.

P.S. Foreigners who are convinced that the US is a rather warlike nation were undoubtedly more convinced by this statement, spoken in jest by an acting US President: "My fellow Americans, I've signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes." This, while a joke, is a direct threat to use nuclear weapons. What you need to find is a statement from Iran saying that as soon as they develop the bomb, they're going to immediately (in the next 5 minutes) drop it on Israel. What you found was a statement from an Iranian politician that when Iran develops nuclear weapons they will have an intrinsic advantage against Israel (which already developed nuclear weapons).
