it's not just noise: my apple laptops get more than 2x the battery life of my wife's dell laptops. that is a huge deal to me.

You're right! Fan noise is the one sore spot I have about my eMac. I've covered the desktop with cloth and bordered the fan exhaust with rolled up towels to cut down on direct and reflected white noise. It only helps a little. I could just keep using the iMac for iTunes, but iTunes 3 on OS X is such an improvement over iTunes 2! I especially like the sound level equalization between different pieces of music sourced at different levels. I also like the play count feature. Oh! And, the smart playlist feature is a must have, once you use it. Unfortunately, to use it on the iMac I would have to install OS X and IMHO, the G3 is not really up to the task of running it. HerbVic
