Disagree. I think KLIC MIGHT be a value stock at $3. Its balance sheet is a mess in this downturn, compared to being very clean in 98. Sustaining negative net cash flow from now through 2004 (the likely recovery scenario for back-end IMO) will be a painful challenge.

I had posted about 1 year ago that I'd buy KLIC at $5 and AMAT at $12, but I'm changing my mind because of company-specific issues. For KLIC it's balance-sheet, for AMAT the value has to be adjusted for loss of its core monopoly in Aluminum deposition. Aluminum is going away and NVLS owns Cu. Thinking $10 on AMAT now.

<< I hope you had a stop in place.>>

The most prescient posts I've placed on the Wannerstrom thread over the past ~2 months were: 1. I closed out my entire position in KLIC @ $16.50 2. KLIC is a canary for the remainder of the equipment sector. The fact that Taiwan Semi. 'shocked' the world was no surprise to the 'KLIC canary' crowd and the fact that AMAT, NVLS, KLAC and the other large equips still have ridiculously high p/s indicate they still have a very long way down to go.

But the crowd, just like in 2000, continues to say 'KLIC is an exception' (the equips collapsed ~6 weeks after KLIC did 2 years ago).

I've already predicted AMAT will be in the single digits soon.

The best investment analysts are correct about 30% of the time and this performance drops significantly during bear markets. Your record, Zeev, is no better than average and I hope you haven't followed most of the advice you've provided over the past 24 months.

Invective, perhaps.

But false-prophet-hood, as shown by someone who feels compelled to search back through 96,000 posts to invoke vindictiveness, is orders of magnitude more pathetic.

Best wishes,
Scott.
