I trust the generals to do their job and do it well. I can't say the same for the politicians.

I don't trust either. As I have said in other posts, I believe Bush made the wrong decision to leave Saddam in charge. My point about Powell was that I did not believe in leaving it to the Generals to make this decision, and this was an example where following the Generals advice led to a bad decision, IMO.

Steve, as I have said in other posts, what would you have us do? You admit that Saddam wants Atomic Weapons, and will not stop until he has them. Do you want to do nothing based on the assessment that he will never be able to get them? Do you want to do nothing because you don't care if he sets one off in Israel, and you think he will never figure out a way to set on off in, say, New York Harbor?

We are dealing, IMO, with someone here who has a track record of using whatever WMD he has against people. This is the first major risk we have had, since the cold war, of having someone with Atomic Weapons and the desire to use them, coming at us.

As long as Saddam is alive, the longer we wait, the higher the risk. I don't think it is warmongering or evil to assess this risk and believe that we need to do something about it now. IMO, It is prudent to do so, and that is why I think we will do it.
