The Guardian has a rather chilling report on the state of unrest in Saudi Arabia:

I was under the impression that you and others considered the Guardian to be less than a respectable newspaper. This story is full of some very strong stuff. My first conclusion is simply to pass it off as tabloid journalism.

Any reason I should not?

Sounds like it's safer to live in Israel with the intifada...

Expat Brits live in fear as Saudis turn on the West

I've seen a few messages on other boards in the past from guys who claimed to be living in SA. They said it was pretty nice, but I have no idea how it's going now. At least one of them said he was returning to the US after over 10 years in the region, though this had nothing to do with 9/11, his messages were posted before that.

<< Their mistake had been to flee the fire without first putting on their black robes and headscarves. Some were still in nightdresses. That was enough for the police effectively to condemn them to death. Some even beat rescue workers trying to save the children. 'Instead of extending a helping hand, they were using their hands to beat us,' one rescue worker said.>>

Quite unsettling to understand some of the results of our support of tyrannical regimes only to feed our unrelenting thirst for cheap oil.

If unrest seriously disturbs oil flow from SA, the consequences for the global economy will be extremely painful.
