If what you say is true, then why are the Republicans also proposing more ... not less ... socialized medicine? The GOP drug benefits plan, defeated in the Senate July 23 on a 48-51 vote, calls for subsidizing private insurance policies that would help the 40 million Medicare beneficiaries pay for their medicines. Republicans want to funnel the assistance through private insurance policies; the Democrats' plan calls for direct federal payments to beneficiaries within the existing Medicare structure.

If you wish to argue socialized medicine, please do so within the framework of facts, and not knee-jerk opinions.
