I think there is more than just a political agenda for these media organizations. There is also a huge economic advantage in catering to a political right when there are currently few outlets for such opinions on prime time. Rupert Murdock (and the Fox Network) is as much a savvy business man as he is a political animal.

Yes, I agree. The success of Fox clearly proves this point.

Well, I'm not certain what you mean, jcky. If we look only at TV and drop Fox out of the picture, then look only at the news portion of the media, just to be clear about what we are doing, you have:

1. TV Talk shows. No left appears here. They are filled with the far right wing, the right wing, and some of the middle. Most of these shows think of John Kerry as the left. And he appears only because he has some credentials as a presidential candidate. And I'm including public television in this set.

2. The news shows. If we do major TV networks and CNN, they are all aspirants for the good journalism spot but have more than a few somewhat righties (implicit), many somewhat centrists (implicit), and no lefties (implicit or otherwise).

3. As for Murdoch as a savvy entrepeneur who is making money on his right wing views, I don't know whether Fox is in the black or not. I assume so. But I'm not arguing that it's hard to make money if you are explicitly right wing; just that it produces bad journalism, bad media.
