AeroAstro, a provider of small satellites and technology products, and satellite
phone service provider Globalstar on Monday said they have demonstrated a low-
cost simplex modem that can be used for remote sensing and tracking by
satellite.

The companies said the successful demonstration comes less than four months
after they announced plans to develop the new modem, based on AeroAstro's
Satellite Enabled Notification System technology. The companies also said they
expect the basic modem unit to be commercially available in the fourth quarter.
