YES! The blogosphere (new term to me) is very exciting. It is one of the truly transformative forces on the web right now. I was playing at creating my own blog this weekend. A failed experiment but now I know the questions I need to ask and think about.

I dislike the word 'paradigm shift' because it is overused and poorly understood. With that reservation in mind, we are undergoing a paradigm shift. New ideas are slowly changing our world view. The Cluetrain gangs focus on the emergence of an authentic voice is important but I also see an authentic listening begining to emerge. I am responsible for my own information ingestion and now I must think about how I get the information I rely on to interpret the world. Who do I trust and how to I keep myself from only hearing what I agree with?

Exciting times.

Paul

the blogosphere is very good at fact-checking and scolding.

The blogosphere also has more than its share of total bullshit. One trend that I think will emerge as the menu of information sources grows larger - in fact we're seeing it already - is that more and more people will simply seek out "news" sources that tell them what they want to hear, instead of looking for challenges that might lead them to rethink some opinions. This, I suspect, will only exacerbate the polarization that we are seeing now.
