A prn file is a "Print to file" file that can be made using a variety of programs.

gallicrow.co.uk

There are various programs out there that will tell you what is in those files. For example

nces.ed.gov

I have never dealt with the issue myself so I can't offer a recommendation.

Question for thread:

Today is a great day. Broadband at long last arrived in the OMD kennel (ATT Cable Internet). This allows me to ditch the glacial AOL dialup I have had to put up with for years.

But....

In doing so I lose two things:

1. AOL's parental controls (I have three pre-teens in the house using the PC, two on the Internet)

2. AOL's chat (for the kids)

How can I put parental controls on the PC and also how can I get the kids able to use the AOL chat?

When you print to a file, the data that would normally be sent to the printer is put into a file. This data is often the codes telling the printer what to do. Few programs can read this data and even fewer humans can.

You may be able to print the file manually. Click Start, Run, and in the Open Box, type

COMMAND COPY YourFile.PRN PRN:
