Having witnessed salary fights between the union and the school district (recently) where I live, I'd hate to see teachers try to negotiate anything on their own. The districts dummy the figures (and in our district they were caught at this), and they try to hold up the teachers for as much as possible. I think union busting teachers might get good pay until the backs of the teachers unions were broken, (because districts might figure it was worth paying good wages for a while to break the unions) then they'd be screwed.
