I believe that John Pitera also thinks that high ticks portend a longer rally.....following a decline.

Don't mean to speak for JP, but I am pretty familiar with his views here.

JP does expect longer rallies at certain high tick levels. A level of +1000 would indicate further rallying. However, if you go to +1400 or more, that could be an indication of a buying climax. Major tops and bottoms are often marked by these extreme tick levels. Interestingly, we have had tick readings of -1400 and +1400 in the past week.
