You're correct. AMD has little choice, but to collaborate. In fact, I see semiconductor manufacturing trending this way for all but the largest corporations. I notice, however, that Motorola is now "out of the loop" with AMD. It probably was a better match, if Motorola wasn't doing so poorly now. But I guess partnering with a foundry and a DRAM manufacturer is better than nothing.

Correct.
AMD has no choice in order for them to attempt to survive.

Bear in mind that the joint development of the 3 companies means that they must serve three masters.
And each master will have its own say in decision making.
And how long will it take the Germans, Americans and Chinese to agree on each of perhaps thousands of decision-making choices over the next 3 or 4 years?
