Iran's clerics start crackdown
Tension over U.S. stance: Reformers threaten to withdraw from coalition government


As a person who wishes to renew a friendship with Iran, I offer some friendly advice.

To the Ayatollahs and government of Iran I say, I think you may be forgetting the lesson that you yourselves helped to teach to the Shah, when the will of the people is ignored.

This is not a criticism, just my opinion.

"The history of Iran-U.S. relations is dark and complicated, but we can't live in the past," Mr. Khatami said. "In the short term, our strategy should be to reduce tensions and in the long term to adopt confidence-building measures toward the United States."

I agree, we have both made mistakes.
