first, that toppling Saddam and recreating Iraq afterwards are two separate things, with the former being of value in and of itself; and second, that the follow-on stuff will almost cetainly be more difficult and less satisfying than the war itself.

At the moment, I'm not at this point; I'm back at the point where things could be worse with certain outcomes if Saddam is gone. So I can't say that getting rid of him is "of value in and of itself". Still depends on what follows.

But I'm still in the information intake mode. Look forward to reading Pollack. Any information on when it will be available via Amazon?
