Your last point is actually the reason I'm finally buying a digital camera.

My wife is a professional photojournalist specializing in Caribbean travel. Thus far, she has been a steadfast analog bigot and says she will be buried with her Nikon F4! However, I showed her that press release about print quality and she is beginning to waver. My guess is we will get a high end scanner before we get a digital camera, and just convert her 35mm slides to images with the scanner and try a high-end printer. Most professionals use 35 mm slides for their basic images and have prints developed from them. Thus far, it seems like a high-end analog camera and a high-end scanner is a better way to go than a digital camera...of course she admits she is biased!
