...and I think his pictures are the most elegant and captivating I've ever seen.

uf, have you looked at the works of Richard Avedon or Anne Leibowitz?

The problem with his photos are that it sets the bar so high...

Years of professional experience (and mistakes) and thousand of dollars invested in equipment will get you there.:-)

...it's discouraging for those aspiring to emulate him.

And too many amateur golfers think they can shoot just as well as Tiger...

Basic "studio" space. Seamless hand painted background. Set of strobes. Cute models. Any camera. Did I miss anything? Oh, style. He "appropriated" that, free of charge. (g)

Am I making it abundantly clear that his sort of photography does not ring my bell? Not that there is anything wrong with that. (G)

Harsh? Yes I am, always. Got definite tastes all my own. Does that invalidate any others? Absolutely not. They're just not for me, dat's all. Variety is indeed the spice of life, and I sure know which spices make me swoon! (g)

In any case, when it comes to Vadim's type of work, Murrey is right on the bucks, from where I stand -- #reply-17813933

But, if you want to do studio kind of work, I'm certain you in particular can, Frank. You have everything it takes, I believe! Matter of practice. I'd suggest you find a local studio shooter, and hang out with him/her for a while, maybe assist. No better way to learn how to do it than seeing it done.
